Gidley Woodland, Location Map

In 1978, the ground layer at Gidley Woodland was dominated by quack and reed canary grass, burdock and nettle, but some native members of the spring flora were reported to persist.
 

Access

Open from dawn until dusk.

  • South Campus, farms area, east of College Rd., south of Forest Rd.
  • Accessibility is limited due to the natural growth of vegetation and the terrain.

  • There are no formal entrances.

  • Parking is possible at the south edge of the natural area, just off the road, but may be challenging in wet conditions. Alternative location is at the corner of Farm Ln. and Forest Rd. if conditions are wet.

Features

  • Area: 4 acres
  • Disturbed woodlot with fragmented oak canopy (red, white, and bur), and also sugar maple.
  • Two vernal ponds.
